Event Summary

Name: Franklin Academy PBG Chess Tournament
Desc: This is a scholastic tournament at Franklin Academy in Palm Beach Gardens 5651 Hood Rd, Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33418 on February 8th. If you have any question please contact: NMBTILLIS@GMAIL.COM after checking out tournament policies and expectations on: https://www.palmbeachchess.com/palmbeachchesstournaments. USCF Membership is required for this event, it can be purchased here: https://secure2.uschess.org/webstore/member.php. The sections are: (K-1, K-3, K-5, K-8, K-12 1000+) this flexibility allows for talented young players to play up with older students but also gives the option to play with only their own age group (K=kinder, 1=1st so K-1 section is only Kinder and First graders within the section). The first round starts at 10:00AM sharp, we will have the wallcharts posted of who has registered online, please check the registration sheets to confirm when arriving. There will be four games of 25min;5second delay for both players meaning each round should last about an hour. We make an attempt if a section ends before the others to pair the students in the section so they may finish earlier than the older students (this is common for K-1). We start the rounds one after the other with a lunch break built in around noon. With the awards ceremony and lunch the tournament should start a 10:00AM and end at 4:00PM at the latest. Parents are asked to be on site at 3:00. Prizes are trophies to the top player in each section with medals to places 2-5. ($15 includes lunch which will be two slices of Papa Johns Pizza, bag of chips, and a drink).
